Château d’Esclans wanted a made-to-measure wine cellar to enhance the bottles of the world’s most luxurious rosé. The two bespoke wine cellars proposed by Avintage Sur Mesure now fit in perfectly with the Provencal setting, between the wine storehouse and the château’s boutique: a sleek, black, highly metallic ensemble to showcase and age the Château’s prestigious bottles.
Located in the heart of Provence, north-east of Saint-Tropez, with the Mediterranean in the background, where most of the AOC Rosés de Provence are produced, Château d’Esclans is co-owned by Sacha Lichine, who acquired it in 2006 with the ambition of making rosé a luxury product, and the LVMH group, since 2019. The estate covers 427 hectares, including 140 hectares of vineyards.
Two six-door wine cellars, the main one organised as a space you can enter. The temperature in each cellar can be adjusted from 8 to 19°C depending on the bottles stored. The architect Avintage Sur Mesure (Provintech) opted for a black lacquered stainless steel exterior and a matt black interior. The cellar is equipped with ambient lighting and LED backlighting of the vertical ladders. The interior features black stainless steel sliding storage shelves (Magnums, 3L, 6L and 9L bottles) and a sloping display shelf for the finest bottles.
